We all have certain powerful feelings that lie dormant deep inside our hearts, waiting to surge out like a volcano. All they need is a mode of expression, which manifests itself in a myriad of ways. Poetry - the most fascinating form of expression - has captivated the human mind for ages. This bug bit me sometime ago, a bit too hard I must admit.
Below is a collection of the poems I have composed. I present the background for each one in brief, to let you all know how I felt while each and every one of them, composed itself. Enjoy them and remember to take them with a pinch of salt, I wish to only entertain you all with my poems. Some of you might see yourself in them, and it's natural for the poems are based on my experiences in life; and we all are quite similar. Please make it a point, to let me know what you feel on having read every poem. Your views - both appreciation and criticism - will be equally welcomed! Poetry is what keeps me alive, so do your bit and help this friend of yours live!
Just a collection of impromptu thoughts.
Expression of love is usually confined (or so most of us think) to just those three words, but when the desire to be with your beloved becomes intense, we fall short of words. What is the state of the mind then? Find out here.
3. You know you're in love when...
I was on my way back home one evening and it was drizzling. I overheard a young couple's conversation.
The guy was soft-spoken and the girl was really cute, making a lovely pair. I was instantly struck by a cord and I penned down these lines. It is a short poem, which all of us will identify ourselves with, esp. those who are in love.
"Sweet is the sorrow of separation" , so said Shakespeare, and this poem echoes a similar feeling. When it's been very long that you have been away from your beloved, what does your heart say? Find out in this poem.
My first poem, in the traditional style, composed when I was riding my bike.
My first foray into Hindi poetry, 'Deewana' marks that phase when I was smitten by the sight of a beautiful girl and I pen down my feelings for her.
This poem describes a situation when you are unsure if you are in love. You know someone so well that you might have almost fallen in love with him/her. This poem describes those feelings when you long to be with your beloved and really want the search to end.
This poem is my first deviation from praise for beauty, to a heartfelt tragedy. Quite a few of you must have experienced this sometime in your lives, that you like a person at first sight, may I mention here specifically - at first sight - only to know later on, that he/she is already involved. The fact pierces your heart like the sharpest arrow. I describe similar feelings here, continuing to tell how we all can and must get over it being just a little bit practical.
This is a poem that has it all in the title. Although not fictional, it is quite an unconventional love story that is sure to arouse your interest. The simplicity with which two people can fall in love with each other has been expressed here. Being an engineering student, I have used my college life as a guide.
This creation, dwells on the fact that there are certain things that all boys wish they knew about girls, but more than that, it tells what all girls wish that boys should know, but unfortunately do not. Thanks to the many girls whom I befriended, who helped me, willingly or unawares, to take a sneak-peek into the world's best guarded secret - the mind of a girl. I would like all girls reading this poem to tell me how far I have succeeded.
That's it for now, but I'll be back, as and when I get something to compose, rest assured, your poet friend will always be there to keep you all entertained. Thank you, for your time and patience.
A final request from my side - your comments are invaluable for me, so please take out some time to tell me how you felt after reading my poems. If your heart feels lighter, tell me, if you find I have written exactly how you feel, tell me, if you feel all this is rubbish and outlandish, still let me know!
